Fellowship for SANOG27 Announced

Fellowship result for the upcoming SANOG27 Kathmandu has been published. Please check SANOG27 Fellowship website for details. Congratulations to all those selected. As the host of the event, we look forward to welcoming you in Kathmandu in January 2016.

The fellowship program has been made possible with a grant from the Internet Society (ISOC). The Fellowship encourages folks from the South Asian Region to participate in the workshop, tutorials and conference.

Local fellows (fellows from Nepal) will be provided with free registrations, while fellows from other countries will be provided Airfare and Accommodation.

SANOG27 Announcement

NPIX is pleased to announce the hosting of SANOG-XXVII, in Kathmandu, Nepal from January 25th 2016 to February 1st 2016. This will be the fourth time SANOG is coming to town and the 5th time in Nepal.

SANOG is a bi-annual forum for the Network Operators from South-Asian region, which is also participated by broader AP-region and global operators. The event starts with a 5-day intensive workshop, followed by 3 days of tutorials and conferences. Details are being announced. For more information, please visit – SANOG 27 Website.

We are expecting over 400 people to participate in the event, including many local participants. You can take part in this event in any or all of the programs including workshops, tutorials and conferences. If you have any interesting topics for the operator community, we encourage you to present papers during the conference. We will be encouraging more women to participate in this event.

6th AGM

Internet Exchange of Nepal (NPIX) held its 6th AGM and celebrations of 15th successful years of operation on 28th October, 2015 at Patan, Nepal.

There was a very good participation at the AGM from most member institutions. Annual report, financial report, activity reports and future plans were among the many discussed held.

This AGM saw many new members from outside ISP and Telco industry. NPIX has 28 members and growing traffic trends.

SANOG26 in Mumbai

The Twenty Sixth edition of the biannual conference and workshop of Network Operators of the South Asian region, SANOG 26, is being held in Mumbai, India.

This will be the 3rd time a SANOG is being hosted in Mumbai. It is hosted by ISPAI and co-hosted by NIXI. It will run from from 3rd till 11th August 2015.

RIPE Atlas Anchor hosted at NPIX

We are pleased to announce the addition of a RIPE Atlas Anchor locally at NPIX Kathmandu called np-ktm-as45170. This is among the first Anchors to be hosted in South Asia, other two being hosted in Sri Lanka and India with APNIC’s support.

RIPE Atlas anchors provide valuable information about the local and regional connectivity and reachability of the Internet. Common tests include ping, traceroute, DNS, NTP etc over both IPv4 and IPv6.
